TRANSFER CREDITS

CRITERIA FOR TRANSFER OF CREDITS

MCC’s transfer of credit policies includes the following criteria for evaluating and accepting credits from other accredited institutions:

  1. Accreditation:

    • Credits are considered for transfer from institutions that are accredited by recognized accrediting agencies, ensuring that all coursework accepted is at a collegiate level.

  2. Course Content and Learning Outcomes:

    • Each course submitted for transfer is evaluated for its content and learning outcomes to ensure alignment with MCC’s curriculum and academic standards. Courses must meet the same level of academic rigor and relevance as courses offered at MCC.

  3. Grades and Credit Hours:

    • Only courses in which the student has earned a grade of "C" or better will be considered for transfer. Additionally, the credit hours for each course must match the equivalent credit hours at MCC.

  4. Credit by Examination:

    • MCC accepts credits awarded through recognized credit-by-examination programs, such as CLEP (College Level Examination Program) or AP (Advanced Placement) exams, provided the student meets the minimum score requirements published by MCC.

  5. Experiential Learning and Prior Learning Assessment (PLA):

    • Students may be awarded credit for experiential learning or prior learning assessment, based on documented learning that has occurred outside a traditional academic setting. MCC utilizes a formal evaluation process to assess the learning and determine whether it meets the collegiate-level standards required for transfer credit. Documentation, portfolios, and interviews may be required as part of this assessment.

  6. Advanced Placement and Professional Certificates:

    • MCC awards transfer credits for students who have completed Advanced Placement (AP) coursework and exams, as well as professional certifications that demonstrate collegiate-level proficiency in a given subject area. MCC requires that these programs be aligned with its curriculum and that documentation of the certification or advanced coursework is submitted for evaluation.

PROCESS FOR REQUESTING TRANSFER CREDIT

Students seeking to transfer credits must follow these steps:

  1. Submit Official Transcripts: Students must request that their previous institution(s) send official transcripts directly to MCC for evaluation.

  2. Course Evaluation: MCC’s Office of Academic Affairs reviews all submitted courses against the college’s transfer credit criteria. Additional documentation, such as syllabi or course descriptions, may be requested.

  3. Notification of Decision: Students are notified of the decision regarding the transfer of credits within 15 business days of submitting all required documentation. The notification will include details about which credits were accepted and how they apply toward the student’s chosen degree program.

  4. Appeal Process: If a student believes a transfer credit was unfairly evaluated, they may submit a written appeal to the Vice President of Academics. The appeal will be reviewed, and a final decision will be provided within 10 business days.

CONCLUSION

Mosaic Christian College is committed to maintaining a high standard of academic integrity while offering students the opportunity to transfer credits from previous educational experiences. Our policies ensure that all accepted transfer credits meet the same rigorous standards as coursework completed at MCC, allowing students to achieve their academic goals while maintaining the integrity of their education.
